We are pleased to announce the new leadership of the Laveen Campus. Mr. Kyle Leybas has accepted the position of principal and Mrs. Emily Asanovich has accepted the position of assistant principal. In their new roles, Mr. Leybas and Mrs. Asanovich will continue to serve on the Laveen Campus Governing Board.
In 2014, Mr. Leybas helped build the Laveen Campus as the assistant principal and athletic director. He’s done an outstanding job with the many challenges of growing a new school and establishing a culture of patriotism and achievement in Laveen. Prior to Heritage, Mr. Leybas taught math, choir, and coached many sports at Sierra Linda High School, Lassen Elementary, and Casa Grande Union High School in Arizona.
Mr. Leybas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Portuguese from Brigham Young University, a Master of Arts in Education from Arizona State University, and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Governor’s University. Mr. Leybas also holds both a Professional Principal, PreK-12 and Secondary Education 6-12 certificate from the State of Arizona.
Mrs. Asanovich has also helped in many ways to build our Laveen Campus from day one. As a PE teacher and volleyball coach she has compassionately motivated our scholars to achieve their best and has disciplined firmly with fairness. She has served as our graduation coordinator, an academic adviser, and on the school governing board. Prior to coming to Heritage, she worked at Morris K. Udall and Carl T. Smith Middle Schools in the Isaac Elementary School District in Phoenix, AZ. At these schools, she held leadership roles as the District Physical Education Facilitator, 21st CCLC Coordinator, and Athletic Director. Prior to coming to Arizona, Emily was the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at Colorado State University Pueblo.
Mrs. Asanovich holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the University of Southern Colorado and a Secondary Education Certificate from the State of Arizona.
Our Laveen Campus is filled with talented teachers who are dedicated to the mission statement of Heritage Academy. They have established the respect of the community and the reputation as a school of excellence.
Please join us in congratulating Mr. Leybas and Mrs. Asanovich in their new roles.
