STUDENTS NEW TO DUAL ENROLLMENT

Students new to dual enrollment (DE) must be admitted to Rio Salado college before they can register for their DE classes. To complete the admissions process please complete the three steps below.  If you have trouble with any of the steps please contact Rio Salado’s Dual Enrollment department at (480) 517-8080.

  • STEP #1: Complete the First Time Dual Enrollment Application

    Tip: Once you submit your completed application, you will receive your:

    •      Student ID
    •      MEID (your username)
    •      Password & Security Question

    Be sure to save and know this information for future use and to register for your dual enrollment courses in August 2022.

    Please allow 15-30 minutes between finishing step #1 and completing step #’s 2 & 3.

  • STEP #2: Upload a Copy of Your Heritage ID and Birth Certificate

  • Step #3: Complete the Parent/Guardian Permission/Financial Responsibility Form

PLEASE NOTE: It may take 3-5 business days for your admissions paperwork to be processed.  You will NOT be able to register for your DE classes until all admissions steps are completed.

DUAL ENROLLMENT COURSE REGISTRATION

DE CLASS NUMBERS

The 2022-2023 DE course section numbers will be updated before the start of the 2022-2023 school year.  I will post a copy of the course section numbers at that time.

TUITION ASSISTANCE

The Tuition Assistance Application for the 2022-2023 will be available in March 2022.

Approved applicants will be awarded up to 9 credits or $780 to use toward their dual enrollment courses per year.

DEGREES OFFERED

Earn an Associate in Arts (AA), an Associate in General Studies (AGS), an Associate of Science (AS), or Arizona General Education Certificate (AGEC A) at Heritage Academy

The Heritage Academy Dual Enrollment Program allows students the opportunity to earn college credit for specific college-level courses taught at Heritage Academy during regular school hours. All scholars are eligible to participate in the DE program beginning their Freshman year of high school.

This past year Heritage Academy had 76 seniors from Gateway (38), Mesa (31), and Laveen (7) who have earned their Associates through Rio. That is over 27% of Rio’s entire DE graduates in AZ!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Meet with your Heritage Academy College Advisor, Gregory McCambridge, to select the appropriate courses.  To schedule an appointment click here.

Then begin the Admissions Process with Rio Salado College and complete all 3 parts below.

  • Upload BOTH your Heritage ID card AND Birth Certificate here.
  • Complete the Under 18/Financial Consent form here.
  • Complete the “Critical Reading and Critical Thinking Placement” exam here.

  • Go to the  website and login to your “Student Center” with your MEID & password
  • Select “Add a Class”, then the correct term
  • Enter your 5-digit section number for EACH of your dual enrollment eligible courses

Go to my.maricopa.edu and log in to your “Student Center” using your MEID and password.  Your  classes should be listed on the opening page.

If you officially drop a class prior to the refund deadline, you may be eligible for a refund.  You will need to contact the Cashier’s Office at (480) 517-8334 to request the refund.

Due to Covid-19, placement will be determined by teacher recommendation.

Dual Enrollment credits generally transfer with ease to Arizona’s three public Universities. Go to aztransfer.com and check the “Course Equivalency Link”  under the “Tools” tab to see how your DE courses transfer within AZ.

If you are planning on attending a private university or an out-of-state university, please check with that institution to see how credits transfer.

Go to your “Student Center” at my.maricopa.edu

Use your MEID and password to log in.

In the “Academics” section of your Student Center, click the white drop-down menu.

Select “Official Transcript” or “Unofficial Transcript,” and click the arrow.

Follow the directions on screen to complete the process.

Transcripts within the Maricopa Community College District are free; transcripts sent outside the Community College District cost $5 each.
