To All Heritage Academy Laveen Parents and Scholars:

We would like to take a moment to remind you of our traffic systems. These systems are put in place for both safety and efficiency. It is imperative that everyone follow the proper procedures for driveline in order to ensure the safety of all of our scholars. When some choose to not follow the expectations, it creates a traffic jam and unsafe situations. We appreciate you taking the time to review these procedures with your scholar(s).

We are a one-way traffic flow. This means the only entrance point to campus is off of 43rd Avenue. At no time should anyone be entering campus from Baseline Road.  This also means 43rd Avenue should not be used as an exit; especially during peak times. During the hours of 7:00 AM – 7:45 AM and 2:45 PM – 3:45 PM, no vehicles are allowed to exit onto 43rd Ave. Outside of those hours, it is still not a safe option as there are always cars entering campus. The only time vehicles should utilize the 43rd entrance as an exit is if the gate on Baseline has been closed.

The goal of the driveline process is to get  your scholars unloaded/loaded in a timely manner and to prevent traffic from backing up. Please note that there are two lanes available for this. Utilizing both lanes helps keep traffic flowing. Two lanes of drop off begin at the campus entrance and continue around the corner of the Fine Arts building. Scholars must use the crosswalk in order to reach cars in the outside lane; at no time should a scholar ever cross through traffic to get to the sidewalk. Scholars will receive a log entry for this so please make sure they understand the importance of going to the crosswalk. Cars should not stop in the crosswalk at any time. If your vehicle does not fit fully on the other side of the crosswalk, please wait to pull forward until it does. This allows that path to stay open and safe for our scholars.

Once your scholar exits or enters your vehicle, please do not merge into the exit lane until you have passed the orange cones after the turn. By merging into that lane early you are blocking others from moving forward in the pickup/drop-off lanes. All lanes do merge at the exit. We want to ensure everyone is being polite and respectful as this will facilitate a quicker exit for all. The middle lane is for exiting the parking lot. At no time should that  lane  be used to drop-off or pick up your scholar. This not only puts your scholar in danger but also impedes the traffic flow.  As a reminder, no cars should stop on Baseline or 43rd Avenue to allow scholars to enter/exit vehicles. This is a major traffic violation and may result in a ticket or cause an accident.

Lasty, the church next door has been extremely kind and gracious to allow our families to utilize their space. This is a privilege and one that could be revoked at any time so we want to make sure we are being good neighbors.  If you use the church parking lot it is imperative that you pull all the way forward into the parking lot. Stopping in the driveway causes traffic to back up on Baseline and also stops traffic from exiting the Heritage lot.

We are attaching a diagram for your reference. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the front office.

We want to thank all of our families for their continued support. We appreciate all of you!

Thank you,

Heritage Academy Laveen Administration
